Do I need to hire a lawyer for my immigration case?
Long answer: While you can read the immigration laws of the United States yourself (see Volume 8 of the Statutes of the United States and the Code of Federal Regulations), you will find laws that are often at odds with one another. Add to this the fact that U.S. Government agencies “enforce” the immigration laws of the U.S. (they do not help people understand them), and it is understandable why so many people and organizations turn to immigration attorneys.
Short answer: It depends. Give us a call to explore whether you need an attorney to help with your immigration needs. Immigration law is so complex that it is often best to turn to an attorney for help.
When should I hire a lawyer?
The best time to engage an attorney is AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. Immigration laws often offer various paths to an outcome, and choosing the right path depends on many factors. See a lawyer before you file an application — this greatly increases your options for a better outcome. At the very least, engage a lawyer for a consultation to discuss options.
Do I need to live in the Washington DC area to hire Mooers Immigration?
Absolutely not. We represent clients across the United States and around the world. And since we are located a short distance from the U.S. Capitol, our location and successful experience working with Congress and the immigration agencies lets us advocate for our clients at a moment’s notice. Of course, if you are nearby, you are always welcome to stop and say hello!
How much will my immigration case cost?
A better question to start with is “what are my chances for success?” Before turning to the cost question, engage the attorney for a one-hour discussion of options. Sometimes once the facts are known, the attorney will tell you that the best option is to do nothing. Or to do something on your own. These options cost nothing other than the price of the consultation.
How do I schedule an appointment for a consultation?
